August Desmedt

August DESMEDT studied Law and Educational Science at the Catholic University of Leuven.

He completed a three year traineeship at the office of Master of Laws Flor BASTAENS in Antwerp. As of 1973, he is a member of the Antwerp Bar and as of 2002 also of the Turnhout Bar.

He is the senior partner of the lawyers’ office DESDALEX.
 
He has the advantage of a general education and has extensive experience in among others family law, contract law and agrarian law. According to him, he isn’t specialised in any subject matter, but for the treatment of dossiers he can call in his office partners and/or external specialists.

He is a passionate amateur of equestrian sport and it goes without saying that he has gained an extensive judicial know-how and experience in this matter.

Marc Delannoye

Marc DELANNOYE studied law at UFSIA and UIA where he graduated with distinction in 1982, after which he established his office in Merksem.

After a three year traineeship with Master of Laws Eddy DE BIE in Antwerp, he was admitted to the Bar in Antwerp in 1985.

After his traineeship, he worked several years as a collaborator of August DESMEDT. On the 1st of July 2000, he joined the association.

Marc DELANNOYE has been active for many years in the political, social and cultural life. Among others, he is the co-founder and at present director of the non-profit association Karel de Grote Hogeschool in Antwerp, the non-profit association Gasthuis St.-Camillus (Centre for Palliative Care) in Antwerp and the non-profit association De Diamanten Kogel, vice-president of the non-profit association ELEGAST (centre for youth and family) in Antwerp,  director and secretary of the non-profit association TSEDEK (centre for psychological and social rehabilitation) in Ekeren and co-ordinator of the district committee Donk (Ekeren).

As a lawyer, he mainly specialises in person and family law, building law, rent law, labour law, collection law, contract law, association law (non-profit associations) and insurance and liability law.

Tom Dael

After his first two years at UFSIA in Antwerp, Tom DAEL graduated in 1989 as a Master of Laws at the Catholic University of Leuven.

That same year, he started his traineeship with August DESMEDT, following which he was admitted to the Bar in Antwerp.

Ever since, he is a part of the August DESMEDT lawyers’ office, first as a collaborator and since 1996 as co-founder and partner of the lawyers’ office DESMEDT & DAEL, now lawyers’ office DESDALEX.

He mainly specialises in liability law (in particular traffic law), civil contracts, insurance law, building law, juvenile law etc. He closely follows any developments in these law matters and regularly participates in seminars.

During the academic year of 1996-97, he participated in the interdisciplinary training for lawyers “Assessment of human damage” at the medical faculty of the Catholic University Leuven. 
 
In 2002, he followed a post academic training “Juvenile law 2002-2003” at UIA. He is a member of the permanent Juvenile Court of Antwerp, which means that he acts as an adviser for minors when they have to appear before the Juvenile Court.

Tom DAEL is also a member of the non-profit association The insurance lawyers and of the non-profit association Union of juvenile lawyers.

Kris Luyckx

In 1994, Kris LUYCKX obtained his Master of Laws degree at the Antwerp University, following which he was admitted to the Antwerp Bar. He then successfully passed the Bar exams and after his traineeship he stayed with the office of August DESMEDT, first as a collaborator, then as a junior partner.

As adviser of one of the largest banks in the country, he further specialised in financial and banking law. Moreover, his daily practice also includes social law, commercial law, building law, family law and company law; various Small and Medium sized Enterprises and traders found their way to his office.

Even during his traineeship, he developed a passion for criminal law and his expertise in pleading cases before the Court for Minor Offences and the Assize Court continued to develop. He frequently treated famous criminal dossiers, among others as the adviser of the family Oulematou in the case Hans Van Themsche before the Antwerp Assize Court.

As the pioneer of the flourishing section criminal law within the office, he ensures a faultless and rapid treatment of financial, fiscal, economic and social criminal dossiers.

Kris LUYCKX is a member of the Commission Criminal Law of the Antwerp Bar.

Furthermore, he is chairman of the Board of Economical Investigation of strangers in Brussels.

Tom Hermans

Tom HERMANS completed his law studies at the Catholic University of Leuven, following which he enthusiastically started his traineeship as  a lawyer at the Antwerp Bar.

During his three years of traineeship, he received a broad training in various branches of law, and in various aspects of the legal profession. Although a good lawyer is in principle a generalist, Tom HERMANS in particular specialised in commercial and company law. He also has a preference for bankruptcy law.

Through permanent self-tuition and by attending lectures and seminars, he stays informed about any new developments in recent law, juridisiction and legal doctrine in order to be able to advise his clients to the best of his ability.

After he finished his traineeship, Tom HERMANS was admitted to the Bar. In July 2004, he joined the office as a lawyer-collaborator where he applies and further expands his legal  knowledge and experience.

Since 2005, he was entered onto the list of curators and he was appointed by the Court as liquidator and temporary administrator of companies.

On the 1st of 2006, he joined the association, the name of which was then changed into bvba Advocatenkantoor DESDALEX.

Véronique Behiels

Following her bachelor degree at UFSIA, Véronique BEHIELS graduated with distinction at the Law Faculty of the Antwerp University in June 2001.

On the 1st of October 2001, she opted for a broad training and commenced her traineeship with the lawyers’ office Advocatenkantoor DESDALEX under the patronage of August DESMEDT.

During her traineeship, she got acquainted with all the aspects of law and under the guidance of Kris LUYCKX, she further specialised in criminal law.

Since September 2004, Véronique BEHIELS is a lawyer-collaborator, specialised in person and family law and juvenile law.

Since September 2009, she is following a special course in juvenile law.

Sylvie Doggen

Sylvie Doggen finished her law studies at the Catholic University of Leuven. Following an additional study in business economics, she first started her professional career in one of the then big six consultancy offices. After a few years, she opted for a career at the Antwerp Bar where she enthusiastically finished her traineeship.

During this three year traineeship, she gained a profound knowledge about various branches of law.

In September 2005, she joined the office as a lawyer-collaborator where she mainly focuses on general contract and commercial law, liability law, intellectual property law and the real estate sector.

Erica Caluwaerts


In 2002, Erica CALUWAERTS graduated at the Catholic University of Leuven as a Master of Laws.

Ever since, 2003 she is working with the lawyers’ office DESDALEX and in 2005 she became a fulltime collaborator.

In the meantime, she has gained a broad experience in criminal law. Every day she pleads in criminal cases, studies criminal dossiers and assists her clients.
Erica CALUWAERTS defends both accused and victims, and sincerely believes that everyone is entitled to a lawyer and a professional defence.

Her experience in criminal law includes all the aspects, from the police court, the minor offences court to the Assize Court, where she already pleaded several cases.

Thanks to the broad team of the lawyers’ office DESDALEX, she can appeal to lawyers who have specialised in almost all legal domains.

Erica CALUWAERTS fluently speaks English, French and Italian.

Bart Verbelen


Bart VERBELEN studied rights to the K.U. Leuven where he obtained his master diploma cum laude in 2009. He combined its study with an active membership at the VRG.

In the academic year 2009-2010 he qualified himself in the cross-border criminal law by following the master 2 “Criminal law and criminal policy in Europe” in Paris. The next year he specialized himself in several facets of the international law in Geneva, in the LLM by  following “Human international law” On intellectual field, but also moreover, both studies determined a particularly interesting experience.

Passionate by the right and in particular the criminal law, he started his training period in 2011 as a lawyer at lawyer's office Desdalex under the guidance of Kris LUYCKX.

Julie Reyntjens


Julie REYNTJENS received her degree of law at the university of Gent in 2007.
She took the oath at the Bar of Gent in Augustus 2007.

In May 2008, she switched-over to the Antwerp Bar and started working at the lawyers’ office DESDALEX. Under the patronage of Kris LUYCKX, she further specialises in the various missions of law, among which criminal law, juvenile law and commercial law.

Laura Goossens

Laura GOOSSENS studied rights at the K.U. Leuven where she obtained her diploma master in the rights with distinction in 2010.

Because she wanted to specialize herself in several branches of right, she started a master after master Notary. She acquired her diploma master in the Notary with distinction in 2011.

In September 2011 she swore the oath at the bar of Antwerp.

Under accompaniment of her patron Marc DELANNOYE, she deepens herself during her training period in several aspects of the right.
